I don't know much about politics, I doubt if I ever will.
Besides knowing the fundamental differences between Democrats and Republicans, I group all politicians under one small category - people who only come around when they want votes. Then, once we've voted them into office, the only time we see or hear from them again is during their campaign for re-election.
For the most part, politicians are liars; they do not tell the truth.
Different politicians promise different things which you and I both know are hardly delivered. If, by chance, agreements are kept and conditions improved - there will always be a politician to come along within the next four maybe eight years to rearrange the menu, to his or her parties' liking.
Regardless of whether we like it or not.
A paradox which makes politics appear to be this One Big Game, one which makes you wonder if it's really all about the betterment of America. And not propaganda simply meant to serve underlying agenda.
If it truly were about overall improvement, The Hatfields & McCoys (re: dems and repubs), they would cease to exist. There'd be one person equipped with one soul purpose - to act as public voice of counsel, a team elected to act solely as the voice of the people.
All people.
In other words, the political menu would consist of items which catered to each and every one of us. And everyone could enjoy their meal. In my opinion, this is the growing appetite of America which needs to be fed.
Until then ... pass the hot sauce.

Guess you tryna add some seasoning to your lies.. Ain't spicy enough for you?
We are of the same thought. In the beginning when Obama started out I was giving him my sistagurl side eye for real. A politician delivering change is like a hooker giving away free pussy...it don't happen all that often and when it does you are likely to get burned. I've never once in my life seen a POOR politician, that has to mean something. I truly hope Obama wins and at the VERY least tries to deliver what he has promised. For the first in a long time I have a little hope, just a little though. I never understood why we don't call those people who work for US to task on their bullshit and scheming. We have let them ruin our economy and marginalize more than a few citizens. I feel like maybe, just maybe we are waking up from a very long sleep.
dang you. i actually have this saved as a draft. so yes, dang you for beating me to the punch.
Obama will be that person that comes in and speak for all of us, i can hear it when he speaks, i know he has a good game plan and it's going to take a while to see change. seeing as that he has a big mess to clean up!
If it was Crystals i'd ask you to pass it my way! lol
i agree with you. as much as we want to give them the benefit of the doubt, at the end of the day, we're still picking the lesser of the evils.
W O W, it sure looks good on paper "One soul purpose." That would involve someone to come "outside" themselves and I don't know if "they're" capable of that.... But we shall see
So, are you NOT voting???! Sigh....
Yes...they all lie; they all have their own agendas, but every once in a while someone gets in office that doesn't make all things go straight to hell. Whoever takes over next will have one hell of a job cleaning up the mess that Dubya made.
**Not a word about that Cowboy game!
Yep, my sentiments exactly.
My choice for President or any other elected office is the one that at least sweet talks me before he bends me over.
Sounds like political utopia. That would be nice.
@ bam: *shakes hot sauce bottle* what are you talking about?
@ poetry: same here, i know his job won't be easy but i would like to see barack obama change the way politics are being played.
@ n.steven: post it, bruh - your angle might be different than mines.
@ sexxy luv: yep, the next president definitely has a big mess to clean.
@ malika: that wasn't what i meant. LOL. but i feel you though.
@ a free butterfly: agreed.
@ anon: voting Barack all day every day.
@ raven: agreed @ will have one hell of a job.
in other nfl news: saints 34 raiders 3
@ dirty red: man, your comments go hard. always have me laughing. i just hope obama isn't really the anti-christ.
@ fullcomplexity: indeed.
thanks for commenting on my blog...
btw...I loves' me some Louisiana hot sauce...it makes my nose run but without it chicken just wouldn't be chicken. Obama is playing the game like he's Jordan making a 4 second winning shot in the playoffs...ewwweee...we haven't been able to control the political game thus far, I'm just watching from the sidelines hoping to win my bet...
Barack is offering something other presidents have not. He doesn't fit the "norm" of a U.S. president. His family didn't come from wealth and privilege and he knows what it means to struggle. Those people make the best presidents.
He is not old, White, and rich. And I think he means what he says, which is shocking for a misanthropic, skeptic like me. :-)
I support Barack, but there are times when I wish he would stop promising so much. It's not like he can just take office and say, "This is what we're going to do." There's a process. I know he means well and is trying to get elected, but promises, promises...
Afternoon sir... umm why u keep using old pix or is that a new one?
I'm scared for the country is Obama loses, terrified for his family if he wins.
I truely believe that Obama has a heart for all people.
And although his short 4 year stint is going to be a difficult, dangerous trying time... I really pray that he maintains focus and purpose while he is in office.
I'm glad he didn't have a plate of chicken in the picture. He would have fit the stereotype, Don.
On the subject of lying politicians I think it's possible that we've all missed something important. We have individuals who are making promises to do something that there is no true on-the-job training for. Is it possible that they get in this high-powered position and realize that what they proposed isn't possible? And instead of admitting their mistake they continue with the lie only to further fuel the fire of the disgruntled public of the lying politician. I hope that Obama can make a change in that he'll be able to accomplish what he says and if he isn't that he'll be (hu)man enough to admit it.
All that said... I'm feeling ya. ;)
@ petula: great points, i wonder how many people truly know that the president doesn't 'create' laws, policies, speeches, etc.
@ mike turner: Yep, I thought he was eating chicken & dumplings though.
@ jane: me too, I hope he can get congress to share the same heartfelt sentiment.
@ PBW: perfect summation.
@ koffee dyme: ???
@ strongblackwoman: makes sense what you said.
@ demon hunter: i agree - his soul isn't built like other presidents.
@ chayah cheron: thank you for returning the visit. i will eat hot sauce on just about anything, except cereal. obama has the crown held in anticipation, doesn't he? i feel you.
@ everyone have a great week, i'm out but post are scheduled throught the week. peace.
Great post brotha.
You are so dead on. When it comes to politicans they may say they are going to do this and that...but 85 percent of those promises never come to past. Insteading of promising things they can't deliever they need to say, "I have an agenda to get_____done."
I think I would respect and believe him/her even more
Just wanted to show some love :-)
You're right in what you say..but still we have to keep believing, keep trying to get someone in who will affect positive change..I suppose the lesser of two evils.
I'm glad Obama is sharing more of his plans with the masses because sometimes details are needed. In order to implement some of the things he wants, he'll have to have cooperation from congress. People should voice their concerns on what they want to congress. I don't think we exercise our rights enough by making sure we let our congressmen know how we feel about certain things.
Obama proved he is a man of the people by advertising that Louisiana Hot Sauce bottle. I believe the same stuff you do about politicians. There are some exceptions tho. Clinton was great! I kinda wish he could have served until death lol.
The elected President has his own views and ideas and that’s what he’s promising the people. However, these are not always interpreted out fully because of legislation and policies.
We should vote on who best fits our views and go from there. Oh, and lets use a little less hot sauce and more prayer!
I agree with you. The 2 party system is disheartening and confining--no REAL progress can or had been made under the current system.
Word, Don.
And let me tell you, as much Obama-ade as I get drunk up off of, anybody who thinks he is going to be able to deliver on half those campaign promises is a dayum fool. Sure, He WANTs to, but he still has a hell of a lot of other folx to answer to. He is still a politician at the end of the day and he is telling us the things he has to in order to get elected. And they are the things I want to hear. However, people are wrongfully expecting him to be our savior and that's not the case.
I do know that he does care a HELL of a lot more about making this country a better place for the "little people" and that's good enough for me. I just hope people don't think he is going to wave a magic stick and all this effed up ish is just going to disappear.
Sad thing is, if he gets in and can't turn things around, people are going to be calling for the Rethugs to take back over. It's a vicious cycle.
yea politicians do only come around when it's convenient for them. and when they are campaigning they only tell their party members what they want to hear but is it truly put into practice? hardly!
campaigning is the appetizer but i would love to receive my actual entree... i'm starving!!!
